Wong Kan-tai embarked on his career in journalism in 1977. He is a seasoned documentary photographer with many years of experience as a photojournalist. He graduated from Tokyo Polytechnic University with Diploma in Photography in 1986.He stayed in London from 1999 to 2005 and published photography journal Mahjong with Karl Chiu Ka-wing, Dustin Shum Wan-yat, Vincent Yu Wai-kin and Paul Yeung Tak-ming in 2009. He now lives in Macau and works as a freelance photographer. Wong’s favorite subjects are people and the environment through which he always figures out the conflict between human civilization and nature. Publications released to date are Tiananmen ’89 (1990), Land Reclaim from the Sea (1997), Beijing Story (1999), Millennium Faces : Chinese Older People in the United Kingdom, a Collection of Black & White Photographs (2002), Hong Kong Photographer: Wong Kan-tai (2005) and Hong Kong Walled City, 2002-2007 (2007). His works are collected by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.
